History of football in Nigeria. Football was introduced to Nigeria by missionary sailors who first visited Nigeria in the 19th century. They played the game for recreation in open spaces near the coast at Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Warri.

Nature of football

Football is a game played by two teams of eleven players in each team on a arranged pitch or field. A game lasts for 90 minutes, divided into two equal halves of 45 minutes with an interval of 15 minutes rest between the two halves.
