There are two types of diseases: communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Communicable Diseases

Communicable diseases are those that can be transmitted or contracted from one person to another.

Examples of Communicable Diseases

  • Ringworm
  • Rabies
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Flu
  • Cholera, etc.

Prevention of Communicable Diseases

  • Adequate nutrition
  • Personal hygiene
  • Environmental sanitation
  • Immunization
  • Proper ventilation
  • Health education

Non-communicable Diseases

Non-communicable diseases are those that cannot be transmitted or contracted from one person to another.

Examples of Non-communicable Diseases

  • Cancer
  • Sickle cell
  • Obesity
  • Otitis media
  • Stroke
  • Boils, etc.
