Pathogens are microorganisms that are capable of causing infectious diseases in the body.

Diseases: This means illness of the body and mind.

Types of pathogens

There are two types of pathogens:

  • Opportunistic pathogens
  • True pathogens

Opportunistic pathogens are organisms that do not normally cause diseases when they are in their places of origin until they are transferred to another place.

True pathogens are organisms that are capable of overpowering the body's immunity through the toxins they produce.

  • Bacteria
  • Worms
  • Protozoa
  • Viruses

Routes through which diseases enter the body

  • The body
  • Contact
  • Insects
  • Animals
  • Water
  • Air
  • Food
  • Soil, etc.
