Boring tools are used for making holes in wood.
Here are the major types of boring tools:
A brace is a tool used for holding and turning drills, bits, or twist drills when boring a hole. It consists of four main parts: head, crank, chuck, and ratchet.
A wheel brace functions similarly to the ratchet brace. It can be fitted with drills, bits, or twist drills, making the task of boring holes easier. It allows for a large number of holes to be bored without exhaustion.
Gimlets and bradawls serve the same function. They are used manually to bore holes before inserting screws and nails, especially in hard wood. Creating an initial small hole with a gimlet or bradawl makes it easier to drive in screws or nails. The diameter of the hole made by the gimlet or bradawl should be smaller than the size of the nail or screw for effective use.
