What is the Internet?

The Internet is a global wide area network that connects computer systems across the world. It is a large system of connected computers around the world that allows people to share information and communicate with each other.

History of the Internet

The internet started in the 1960s as a way for the government to share information. This led to the creation of the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), which evolved into what is now called the internet. The inventors of the Internet are Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn. The internet was virtually unknown by the public for the first two decades after its birth in the 1960s. It served the specialized needs of scientists, academics, and military and government personnel.
